Three Ways in Picking Your DJ Set
Being a DJ entails lots of hard work and sacrifice. This means that you have to really focus on the moves and techniques for you to become a successful DJ. Even though you fail at times and not getting the output that you want, this is part of it. You just have to push yourself further in order for you to perfect the mixes that you want to come up with. Many disc jockey books will help you along the way so remember visiting your local library whenever possible.
Some things you have to keep in mind if you are picking your DJ set. First is to make sure that you do not play big tunes at the start of your set. You have to make sure that the audience and you have still some energy left to keep the music going. You can always start with some records that are not much familiar. You can even play those that others might not have heard of just to warm up the dance floor. When you see people slowly accumulating, you can move on to the next music.
When you see that the crowd is already in their hyperactive mode, you can start playing the more upbeat and famous music. This makes the dance floor go ballistic when people start dancing to the tune of the music. You can alternate the music by playing a slightly less upbeat music after the other one so that people will still have time to recharge themselves. When you are getting a bit tired, you can go back to the lesser upbeat music until you feel like you can party again. It is better to pick out your music in advance so that you already know which music to play after the other one.
Just make sure that you know which music to play. Always start a bit slow and mellow before moving on to the more exciting and loud music. You always have to warm up the crowd so that they will be able to adjust their moves as well as their energy. Playing the big records at the start of the set is not a very good idea. Of course, people do not want to feel sweaty and tired all at once. You have to make them enjoy themselves a bit first before giving them the big one.
By preparing your DJ set, this will help you avoid any more mistakes once it is your cue. You can even have a list elsewhere so that you can keep track on which music is up next. More so, this too will help you remember which music you want to play especially if you are having a mental block. However, once you do this repeatedly, you will not need a copy of the list since you are able to remember it. Have fun doing your thing while the crowd goes wild in partying and dancing to your music. When you see that they love it, expect them to come back to experience the same thing with you. It is always nice to know that people appreciate what you are doing no matter how hard it is.
